@baraxor Yes! I loved that show as a kid. Remember the “fake Tsunami” episode?
A bunch of brainiacs try to pull off a robbery while the islands are on alert.

  2. AlphaSigOU says:

This is the opening title sequence to the pilot episode film – later recut into the two-part episode ‘Cocoon’.

My parents loved Hawaii Five-0. My dad is really looking forward to the new one coming to CBS this fall. As a child this show didn’t interest me, but I believe I’ll like this.

You’re right! This is the theme from the Pilot episode.

iim pretty sure thats not ..”the original”

@ToddInLN52254 – Bewitched was sponsored by Chevrolet, not Ford.

In fact, Chevrolet was such a huge sponsor that the animated intro was altered to reflect their sponsorship (you can see that right here on YouTube).

The other big Bewitched sponsor (they alternated every other week) was Quaker Oats.

  8. StukInBuf says:

@OldsVistaCruiser He also appeared in a 1974 episode named “We Hang Our Own.”

  9. StukInBuf says:

@prestonlewis Indeed it was the “Cocoon” pilot.

  10. StukInBuf says:

@Breeslave No hay ninguna comparisión entre los dos… el señor Lord fue lo más hermoso.

  11. Breeslave says:

quen es mas macho Lloyd Bridges ou Jack Lord?

  12. cplecrakks says:

hawaii dont look nothing like that no more

  13. prestonlewis says:

Looks like the Cocoon pilot, not the usual opening credits.

  14. StukInBuf says:

@raposofan “Hawaii Five-O”—Brought to you by: Budweiser, the King of Beers. When you say Bud, you said it all.

  15. StukInBuf says:

@rugbynimbus Things work out as they do for a reason. Who knows how much mileage “Five-O” would’ve had with someone other than Jack Lord as McGarrett?

  16. StukInBuf says:

@baraxor Sad to say, the Mercury brand will soon be passé… like the Oldsmobile and Plymouth brands.

I love how they displayed Wo Fat’s name over the fire as if the character represented an evil, sinister criminal.

    Book em Dano! Facebookery One.

  19. dramatools says:

@sacker12: This is the pilot version. Note that James MacArthur (Danny “Book ‘em Danno” Williams) is not credited, as he joined the cast beginning with the first regular episode. This is a rarity, as I’m sure CBS plastered the better-known opening over the pilot for syndication. I’d like to see CBS upload a high quality version of the version that aired for some twelve-odd years.

  20. kingrocker44 says:

Is Jack Lord running that way so as not to get creases in his suit? LOL

  21. Radazzle8 says:

I love this memorable and fantastic Hawaii Five-O tune. I am so excited and looking forward to watch the new, cool and innovative H5O with a fantastic young cast in September 2010 on CBS.

  22. jayrox40 says:

Thus spake the Hawaiian Lord. “Book em Danno murder one!”

  23. belbro62 says:

huge fan hope they dont fuck up the show, i already hate the new opening sequence of the new one they fucked up the song .thats a no no. thats sacriligeous. like taking a rap sample.

  24. DarianGTR06 says:

@bearclause Whoever was in charge of re-editing for the series did a great job and had a very musical eye. The rhythm of the editing is great, fast and dramatic. That sequence looks modern and powerful. That’s the one I’m used to (remember the fantastic Jack Lord zoom shot?).

  25. johnhi00 says:

The 2010 opening from the new show is “ok”. Doesn’t have the terrific brass that the original had.
